A Soldier's Leaving Home
As we sit wondering, and waiting when the day will be, when my soldier will be leaving home. I'm afraid to pick up the phone, wondering if they're calling him to leave his home. Everyday we cherish each other, because you never know how in one brief moment your life can come and go. My soldier has left before, but as time may tell he'll leave once more. A soldier's leaving home, away from the ones who love him most. We will pray for his safety and hope that's enough, so one day that soldier will come home to us. A soldier's leaving home to help insure freedom for a country that said they don't even need them. I miss that soldier that left six months ago, now his home is in Iraq what has now been a year ago, his family has been there with his fellow comrades. A soldier's leaving home, as they always do, but this time he's coming home to a place he once knew. This poem is from my heart you see, because this soldier did leave me. I am a soldier's wife, and once he left his home before, he's home now, but is waiting to leave once more. This is to all the families with soldiers that are fighting for freedom, and are paying the ultimate price. Have hope.
