Patriotism September 11 Poems: 41-50 of 132

Patriotic poems are found in our national anthem, pledging allegiance to the flag, and many of our most popular patriotic songs are all poetic.  We show appreciation of services our men and women in protecting our freedoms and honor of our country.  Poems on nationalism preserve our history and on a personal basis we also save the memory of loved ones that served our country through patriotism.

One’s love for their country conjures emotions of loyalty and pride for one’s country.  There are lost love poems, family poems, and many other narrative works about country, national affairs, and war that are shared with others of their country’s heritage and glorify the nation’s accomplishments.  In preserving and keeping the memories of loved ones that served in the military for one’s homeland, one reflects over their work to preserve one’s pride for their country in patriotic poems.

Family Poem of the Day

JUBILANT FATHER

His face is like a sun, warms the moon beside him.
She´s grown full; tonight begins the waning.
The tide pulls through her very bones,
her form aches as each wave crests.

The earth pulse, heavy, blood warm within her
Beats new chords, old sun god chants.
"You are the first mother and the last,
all spring flesh has traveled through you."

Aztec plumed and gold beaded,
your priest kneels at the holy alter,
gathers each salt pearl shed, nectar for his sacrament.

You are the temple,
we pilgrims swept through the gates,
bent figures know the scent and petals of your presence,
spread our arms to harvest blossoms,
and your priest, sun struck, kneels beside you.
