JUBILANT FATHER His face is like a sun, warms the moon beside him. She´s grown full; tonight begins the waning. The tide pulls through her very bones, her form aches as each wave crests. The earth pulse, heavy, blood warm within her Beats new chords, old sun god chants. "You are the first mother and the last, all spring flesh has traveled through you." Aztec plumed and gold beaded, your priest kneels at the holy alter, gathers each salt pearl shed, nectar for his sacrament. You are the temple, we pilgrims swept through the gates, bent figures know the scent and petals of your presence, spread our arms to harvest blossoms, and your priest, sun struck, kneels beside you.

Teen Love Poem

To My New... Yeah You!

© By Yasmin Gibrill

To my new guy,
To my latest, yeah you guy.
What's poppin' daddy?
How you feeling?
You should feel good
Because you're the one I'm dealing
With. Be cool.
Don't trip.
I like your style
And your demeanor.
So please
Don't flip.

To my new boy,
To my latest, yeah you boy.
What's good?
You straight?
You're not really the type of guy
That I usually date.
You're chill,
Yet hype.
You'll rather talk it out,
Then get loud,
Make a scene,
And fight.

To my new one,
To my latest, yeah you son.
How are you?
You good?
I know you're feeling me,
And as so, you should.
You understand my music,
Which means you understand me.
From my beats,
To my chorus,
My hook,
Then my melody.

To my new man,
To my latest, yeah you man.
Are you ok?
Are you still in it?
Don't give up
When you're just about to win it.
You got me.
I'm stuck.
I found my guy.
Yeah that's you.
And?!
So what?!

To my new love,
To my forever, yeah you love.
Do you love me?
Do you care?
I'm about to give you my heart
For us to share.
I want you to be "that guy"
In my life.
To love me,
And protect me,
And finally make me,
Your wife.
