JUBILANT FATHER His face is like a sun, warms the moon beside him. She´s grown full; tonight begins the waning. The tide pulls through her very bones, her form aches as each wave crests. The earth pulse, heavy, blood warm within her Beats new chords, old sun god chants. "You are the first mother and the last, all spring flesh has traveled through you." Aztec plumed and gold beaded, your priest kneels at the holy alter, gathers each salt pearl shed, nectar for his sacrament. You are the temple, we pilgrims swept through the gates, bent figures know the scent and petals of your presence, spread our arms to harvest blossoms, and your priest, sun struck, kneels beside you.

Teen Love Poem

Keep Your Heart Up

© By Chelseigh Millar

How can he be your sweet heart, if there is no sugar pulsing through your veins?
How can he be the love of your life, if you haven't seen the rest that remains?
How can you call him your baby, if he is the one taking care of you?
How can you pretend you need him, like he has been there for everything you have gone through?

Does he really mean this much?
Or do you just want that to believe?
Do you really need him till the end?
Or just until you want him to leave?

You can't keep wasting time away,
Because girl you gotta live on everyday.
Time is moving, so you need to go.
Time is leaving, you don't have time to go slow.

Trust me girl, if you made it this far,
You can make it to the end.
You know you are better off without him,
I know you just like to pretend.

I wouldn't lie to you,
Because I know exactly how much they hurt.
Guys can be cruel and deceiving,
But its just because they like to flirt.

I'm sorry that its hard,
But have a little faith.
If you can make it right now,
You can make it everyday.
